Ultrasonic velocities and derived thermodynamic parameters are of considerable interest in understanding the nature and strength of various intermodular interactions, formation of Hydrogen bonding etc In the present work adiabatic compressibility and enthalpies of binary liquid mixtures of n-alcohols with Lactic acid and Dioxane have been computed from the measured values of density, viscosity and ultrasonic velocity. The excess values of these parameters have been calculated to study the nature and strength of molecular interactions in liquid mixtures. The effect of electro negativity and induction reflected in the values of Alcohol-Dioxane systems have been detected.- Acoustic and Excess Parameter Studies on Interaction in Ternary Liquid Mixtures

In the present work, measurement of ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity of ternary liquid mixtures of Dioxane, n-alcohols and Lactic acid are made 10 ml specific gravity bottle and Kenon-Fenske viscometer respectively. From the measured values adiabatic compressibility and excess adiabatic compressibility values are computed to study the strengths of various intermolecular intermolecular interactions between the polar liquids and non polar solvent. Lactic acid-Dioxane system shows strong Hydrogen bonding effect. Mutual depolymerisation is predominant in ternary liquid mixtures.- Internal Pressure and Free Volume of Polymer Solutions of Poly Vinyl Acetate

Ultrasonic studies have been widely used to know more about the properties of the polymer solutions. Ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity of polymer solutions of Poly vinyl acetate were measured at different temperatures ranging from 35°C to 55°C. The internal pressure (πi) and free volume (Vf) of the solutions are computed. At a given concentration, the variation of πi and Vf due to a change in temperature can be represented by the relation, πi Vfx=k where k is a constant and x is the slope of the straight lines. In all the systems, the above equation was checked thus signifying the importance of internal pressure and free volume in fixing the polymer solutions thermodynamically.- Correlation Between Activity Coefficient and Equivalent Conductance of Aqueous Solutions of Electrolytes Through Ultrasonic Measurements

Ultrasonic velocity, density, and viscosity of aqueous solutions of Cobaltous chloride and Zinc chloride for various concentrations up to saturation are measured at various temperatures ranging from 15°C to 55°C. from these measurements internal pressure, and free volume of aqueous solutions of cobaltous chloride and Zinc chloride are computed. Activity coefficient is computed from internal pressure and the values of arbitrary constants. The correlation between activity coefficient and equivalent conductance is carried out and the results are interpreted. It is found that the linear variation in the case of cobaltous chloride solutions and non linear variation in the case of solutions of Zinc chloride. It is explained on the basis of equivalent conductance.- Acoustical Behaviour of Binary Solutions of Tartaric Acid
